SOMETHING WICKED

By |2015-07-27T08:21:46+00:00July 22nd, 2015|0 Comments

I recently completed the audio production of British writer Kerry Wilkinson’s Something Wicked, which is also available in Kindle format and in paperback from Pan Macmillan.

The hero of Something Wicked is private investigator Andrew Hunter, who has already appeared as a secondary character in Kerry’s hugely popular Jessica Daniel series, which boosted him to Amazon’s list of top ten bestselling Kindle authors in 2012.

Something Wicked marks the debut of a new series of Andrew Hunter novels set in Manchester in the north of England. Along with his smart but strangely reckless assistant Jenny, Andrew is drawn into a complicated web of intrigue and deceit centering around his investigation into the disappearance of a young man on his 18th birthday.

Nine months after he vanished, all the police have turned up are three severed fingers found in a wood on the outskirts of the city. The boy’s desperate father turns to Andrew for help to find out why his son never made it home on the evening of his birthday and what happened to him afterwards.

Kerry Wilkinson’s writing style is an audiobook narrator’s gift: he has a fine ear for local accents and snappy dialogue, he draws colorful characters and delivers a fast-paced plots with plenty of unexpected twists and turns, and his distinctive sense of humor is apparent on every page. Take a listen:

The Kindle version of Something Wicked has already garnered praise from early reviewers, many of whom have already fallen in love with continuing Jessica Daniel series. I had a great time narrating this compelling story, and I’m really excited to see how the audiobook fares with Kerry’s army of devoted fans.
